Wear the right clothes and stay warm this winter
It sounds obvious, but wearing the right clothes is essential if you are looking to cut back on heating your home this winter. Keeping your body core, hands, and feet warm will also make a significant difference to how you feel.
To keep warm, you need insulation between you and the environment. Layers work well because you can add or remove them to avoid sweating. Wearing more layers helps keep your body temperature up. An insulation layer will help you retain heat by trapping air close to your body. Wool, silk, or polypropylene will hold more body heat than cotton. Natural fibres like wool, goose down, or fleece work best.
And don’t stop at wearing warm clothes. If necessary, wrap yourself in a duvet while binge watching your favourite tv series, will keep you warm and happier through the worst of the dark winter nights.
But there is something else to consider. Rather than heating your home, we recommend keeping yourself warm. By wearing a USB-charged heated jacket, bodywarmer or other heated clothes such as socks and a heated scarf, you can keep warm wherever you are in your home, and not waste money heating your environment.
